USA In The Vietnam War
Warfare is always a brutal and
malevolent aspect of human nature. during the Vietnam War, due to the
non-censorship of the war; US and allied civilians were able to see for themselves, the
horrors that occurred in war. in Vietnam, The use of weapons, especially by the United States of America, and its allies, were the next
level of brutality. Napalm, chemical weaponry, and the sheer brutality of the
force applied to Vietnam by the US, allowed the world to witness the
lengths that people would go to win a war at all cost and under these circumstances have shown the true
raw nature of war.
today the Use of chemical warfare in modern wars is seen as a violation of human rights. Countries that have used this type of warfare have been at the mercy of the media and its people. These countries, such as USA, Iran, Russia, Syria, and many others, have been condemned as barbaric nations during times of war and in the process, have affected millions of lives both of their enemies and also millions of their own people/allies.
The Vietnam War which is sometimes known American War for example in Vietnam and sometimes as the Second Indochina War (the first being the anti-French resistance in Contemporary Vietnam, 1946-1954) was fought between the United States of America and its allies, and Vietnam. It lasted from 1959 to 1975.
The US struggle in Vietnam began in 1959 and culminated in an American defeat in 1975. This 16 year war was revolutionary in anti-war campaigning and effected the United States who saw five presidency terms and the assassination of the 35th United States President, John F. Kennedy. other international alliances such as New Zealand, have also been affected by the war. foreign and international security policies have been reshaped in New Zealand largely as a result of the Vietnam war and the alliance between USA, Australia and New Zealand - ANZUS, which has almost completely collapsed between USA and New Zealand. controversy surrounding the war has meant that New Zealand as suffered the same condemnation that the US has suffered due to this alliance. as a result of the condemnation by association, the relationship between the US and New Zealand has suffered and as a result, new zealand pulled out of the war in 1972, 3 years before the war was lost by USA.
The intended Focus of this website will be on the USA military involvement in Vietnam, the type of warfare utilised during this period and why they decided to use these tactics. this website will look at how this type of warfare altered the outcome of the war and will highlight the effect that this type of warfare had and still has on the personnel that served during the war.
